Our approach to readable, keyboard-accessible, responsive and assistive-technology-friendly institutional services.

This statement describes current design goals and does not claim that every external or historical document is fully accessible.
This page applies to the public website and connected institutional portals. It will be reviewed as digital services and record-processing responsibilities evolve.
Our accessibility goal
Federal Polytechnic Wannune aims to provide a website that can be used by applicants, students, staff, researchers and members of the public with a wide range of abilities, devices and connection conditions.
Accessibility is an ongoing design, content and testing responsibility rather than a one-time claim.
Design measures already included
- Responsive layouts for mobile phones, tablets, laptops and larger screens.
- Semantic headings and page landmarks.
- Keyboard-accessible links, buttons, forms and navigation controls.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators.
- Form labels, validation messages and status information.
- Alternative text for institutional images and logos.
- Colour combinations designed for readable contrast.
- Reduced-motion handling for visitors who request it through their device settings.
- Clear page titles and breadcrumb navigation.
Keyboard navigation
The website should be usable without a mouse. Visitors should be able to move through interactive controls using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys and activate controls using the keyboard.
Keyboard focus should remain visible at all times. Any future modal, dropdown, portal form or data table must preserve logical focus order.
Screen readers and structure
Pages use semantic headings, labels and landmarks intended to support assistive technologies.
Future downloadable documents, result statements and reports must also be prepared in accessible formats rather than relying only on scanned images.
Text, contrast and zoom
- Text should remain readable when browser zoom is increased.
- Important information should not be conveyed through colour alone.
- Interactive controls should maintain sufficient size and spacing on touch devices.
- Content should reflow without unnecessary horizontal scrolling on narrow screens.
Images, audio and video
Meaningful images should include useful text alternatives.
Decorative images should not create unnecessary screen-reader noise.
Future video content should include captions, and important audio information should have a text alternative where reasonably possible.
Forms and errors
- Forms should have visible labels and understandable instructions.
- Required information should be identified clearly.
- Validation errors should explain what must be corrected.
- Visitors should not be required to rely only on colour to identify an error.
- Future long portal forms should preserve entered information where reasonably possible after validation.
Known limitations
Some links currently open existing institutional services that were not created as part of this rebuild. Their accessibility may differ from the new public website.
Older PDF documents, scanned publications and external journal files may not yet meet the same accessibility standard.
The future portal and result-processing interfaces will require separate keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, mobile and assistive-technology testing.
Requesting an alternative format
A visitor who cannot access information should contact the institution and identify the page, document or service concerned.
Where reasonably possible, the responsible office should provide the information in a more accessible format.
Reporting an accessibility problem
Accessibility issues may be reported to info@fedpolywannune.edu.ng with the subject 'Website Accessibility'.
The report should include the page address, device or browser used, a description of the problem and the preferred contact method.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility testing will continue as new pages, content-management tools, portals, tables, forms and downloadable reports are introduced.
This statement should be updated after formal accessibility testing and whenever material platform changes are made.
